2008 Gourd Preview

These are some of the gourds I've been working on for the Feast of the Hunter's Moon next week.
It's only a small fraction of the total I'll be taking to the Feast. I'm really getting excited. They've begun to put up the shelters, etc at the park and mowing the road edges in the area! Soon the temporary traffic signs will be up! This reminds me that I only have a week to finish getting ready!
It's time to get out the costumes and check them out. Dan says he lost his garters, he will have to use something else until they can be replaced. I'm ready for a new vest and petticoat! Shopping at the Feast is so much fun! (That's me in the picture)

Butter Toffee, Spiced Coffeecake, Twigs n Berries...

...Sugar n Spice, Butterscotch, Colonial Welcome, Country Quilt...these are the names of the assorted potpourri mixes for my potpourri gourd bowls. I have 20 cups that I put into a bajillion little 4x6 muslin bags. I wish this was smellevision! My house smells heavenly.

Loving the Gallery Walk!!

Had a great time at the Mass Ave Art Walk! Met lots of wonderful people and a few collectors. There was a steady flow of people in the gallery all night long. I had some sales, too!

Out of my gourd!

2007 Luna Dreams 2007 Feast of the Hunter's Moon

The 2008 Feast of the Hunter's Moon is fast approaching. Pictured above are the family in our booth/tent, and samples of my gourd art. The leaf-cut gourd and the black one with orange leaves were my best sellers. I have been making more of both this week. Much scrubbing, cleaning with wire brush, jigsawing, coloring and waxing has been happening in the past few days. It's hard work, but I LOVE it! I think I like the Feast more than Christmas.

I'm Somebody! (name that movie)

The phone books are in! Well, not really, but I AM officially listed, pictures and all, on the McFee Gallery Website. (link to the right) It looks great, thanks guys!

I have been extremely busy getting ready for 2 shows. The gallery show is this Friday, 9/5/08, delivered paintings and prints galore a few days ago. One more delivery and we should be in good shape for Friday night. Paintings in the gallery are selling right and left--love it!

Gourd art is in full swing now that the paintings are set for a little while. I have a tent in the reenactment French and Indian War time period gathering, Feast of the Hunter's Moon in West Lafayette, IN. Check out the link, it's a really cool event.

New for this year will be DIY gourd kits for those wanting to try it out. I toying with the idea of a children's make it-take it table of gourd necklaces.

Off to design a huge basket ball gourd!
